The Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing of Somalia, Elmi Mahmoud Noor, received the Head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Somalia, Lionel Lourense, at his office.

The meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between the Ministry and UNDP to advance the country’s infrastructure development, improve urban areas, and enhance community resilience against the impacts of climate change.

The Director of the Department of Construction Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Public Works, Abdikarim Hassan Dahir, welcomed the UNDP delegation and emphasized the importance of close cooperation to accelerate construction projects and the development of critical national infrastructure.

During the meeting, Mr. Lionel Lourense elaborated on the urgent need to intensify efforts in developing roads, bridges, and urban centers. He reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to continue supporting the Ministry of Public Works and expressed readiness to scale up projects focused on construction and urban development.

In conclusion, Minister Elmi highlighted that the Ministry is fully committed to implementing effective plans aimed at strengthening economic infrastructure, improving city standards, and enhancing the living conditions of the people.
