Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre commended the out-going Ambassador of China to Somalia, Fei Shengchao for his role in enhancing mutual cooperation and friendship between the two countries during at farewell ceremony in Mogadishu this week. 

“Peoples’ Republic of China has consistently been unwavering ally in Somalia’s quest for growth and stability, Ambassador Fei has transcended his diplomatic duties, contributing to our humanitarian and emergency responses and the development of our nation’s most valuable assets of its people, recognizing that the security and development are intertwine”, Barre said.

He added that the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia spearheaded initiatives that enhance economic linkages and trade between our countries as well as initiatives that represent Somali youth and civil servants with opportunities to gain skills and knowledge.

“Ambassador, Fei, We express heart-felt thanks to you. As you move forward towards the next chapters of your careers, I am confident that your influence will continue dissonate profoundly. We wish you all the best and will consider you a friend for Somalia wherever life takes you”, the Prime Minister added.

The Chinese Ambassador, Fei Shengchao appreciated Somali Government’s strong support to him during his duty , saying China-Somalia relations and mutual support is the hallmark of this historic relationship.

“China and Somalia continue to support each other’s efforts to promote peace and development and safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity as we truly believe the world will be better off with a peaceful united and prosperous China and peaceful united and prosperous Somalia”, he said. 

Shengchao has been here in Somalia for the past 958 days, and remembered for his role in promoting relations between the two countries, in particular, during the Covid-19 area, and recent catastrophic floods where China provided significant support to Somalia.
