Arusha(Mogadishu24)-The Federal Government of Somalia on Monday became a full member of the East African Community(EAC) after submitting instruments of the ratification for the treaty accession to the bloc’s Secretariat, Mr. Peter Mathuki in Arusha, Tanzania.

“The Federal Republic of Somalia is now a full member of the East African Community after depositing the Instrument of Ratification to the EAC Secretary General Hon. Dr. Peter Mutuku Mathuki today at the EAC Headquarters”, the bloc said said.

“Today, March 4, 2024 is a historic day that Somalia took the last step to be part of the 8th member of the East Africa Community Association (EAC). A delegation from the Federal Republic of Somalia deposited the instrument of ratification on the accession to the treaty for the establishment of the EAC by the Federal Republic of Somalia to EAC Secretary General Hon Dr. Peter Mathuki”, member of the delegation said on Facebook.

Minister of Commerce and Industries and Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Daud Aweis Jama are the among the delegation of Somalia who are attending the the event at moment.

“Just arrived in Arusha to join the #Somalia delegation to submit our ratification for the Treaty of Accession to the EAC SG. The bloc will then deposit the treaty with the AU & UN, showing our commitment to upholding its terms. #SomaliaEAC“, Jama said on X an hour earlier.
