Somalia Condemns Ethiopian Attack on Doolow

The Federal Government of Somalia has strongly condemned an attack carried out by Ethiopian forces on Somali military positions in the town of Doolow, Gedo region. The incident occurred at around 10:00 AM on Monday when Ethiopian forces launched a coordinated assault on three key bases belonging to the Somali National Army, NISA, and the Somali Police.

The attack resulted in casualties among Somali forces and injuries to civilians in the area. The Federal Government described the incident as a deliberate provocation and a violation of Somalia’s sovereignty. The assault also caused significant damage to facilities in the targeted locations.

Violation of the Ankara Agreement

The Somali government criticized the attack for directly contradicting the principles of the Ankara Agreement, the African Union Charter, and international laws. The timing of the incident coincided with Somalia’s ongoing peace efforts, including the deployment of a high-level delegation to Addis Ababa to strengthen bilateral ties with Ethiopia.

Somalia Warns Against Provocation

The Somali government labeled the Ethiopian actions as reckless and warned against any further provocations that could endanger peace and stability in the region. It emphasized that Somalia would not remain silent in the face of such violations of its territorial integrity.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to upholding peace and warned Ethiopia to respect international agreements and neighborly relations. Somalia called on Ethiopia to cease actions that undermine the sovereignty of its nation and derail regional stability.
