Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received Djibouti’s Parliament Speaker, Dileita Mohamed Dileita, at Villa Somalia on Tuesday, underscoring the deep-rooted ties between Somalia and Djibouti.

President Hassan highlighted the importance of their diplomatic relations, which he said foster regional development, mutual respect, security, peace, and stability, according to a statement from Villa Somalia.

Speaker Dileita, who arrived in Mogadishu following an official invitation from his Somali counterpart, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended by the Somali government and people.

He commended Somalia’s federal government for its recent achievements, reinforcing Djibouti’s support for Somalia’s progress.

During his visit, Dileita delivered a speech at the Somali House of Parliament, where he focused on enhancing cooperation between the legislatures of both countries.

His visit follows President Hassan’s recent tour of the Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) for the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), during which he met with Djibouti’s President Ismail Omer Guelleh to discuss post-ATMIS planning.

Djibouti, a key contributor to ATMIS, remains a vital ally in Somalia’s journey toward lasting peace and stability in the region, with the visit reflecting the continued partnership and shared vision between the two nations.
