Muscat, Oman(Mogadishu24)-The Federal Republic of Somalia and the Sultanate of Oman have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the livestock trade and investment.The agreement was formalized during a meeting between Somalia’s Minister of Livestock, Forestry, and Range, Hassan Hussein Mohamed, and Oman’s Minister of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Water Resources, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al-Habsi.Minister Hassan Hussein Mohamed confirmed the agreement, noting its significance in promoting the import and export of livestock between the two countries. The MoU focuses on tackling trade challenges, facilitating investment, and enhancing collaboration on livestock health and safety.Key areas discussed included capacity-building in veterinary quarantine, controlling infectious diseases, and sharing expertise in food security. The agreement also aims to improve diagnostic services, implement quarantine protocols, and develop plans to combat livestock diseases.This partnership sets a foundation for greater economic cooperation, aiming to bolster food security and create new trade opportunities in livestock and agricultural sectors for both Somalia and Oman.
