Mogadishu, Somalia – The National Independent Electoral Commission and Boundaries (NIEC) announced today a 14-day extension for political party registration, following the previous deadline of April 29, 2025. The new deadline is now set for May 14, 2025.

The commission stated that the decision came after receiving numerous requests from political parties that are in the final stages of fulfilling the legal requirements and preparing their documentation.

“Considering the requests we have received from political parties in the final phase of compliance, we have decided to extend the registration period by 14 days,” the commission’s statement said.

This marks the third extension since the registration process officially opened on January 20, 2025.
