Hargeisa, Somaliland – The Ministry of Internal Security of Somaliland has issued a press release praising the Somaliland Armed Forces for their triumph in a recent conflict in the eastern part of Ceerigaabo city.

According to the press release, the Somaliland forces inflicted significant losses on armed groups that launched an attack on their positions. The Ministry commended the troops for their steadfastness in defending the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring the overall security of Somaliland.

The Ministry of Internal Security also emphasized that Somaliland stands for peace, progress, and democracy, and will not compromise on anything that threatens its nationhood, communal unity, or general security.

“The Republic of Somaliland symbolizes peace, progress, democracy, and the aspirations that guide where this nation aims to reach. However, Somaliland will never negotiate on any matter that affects our nationhood, the unity of our people, and the overall security of the country,” the statement concluded.

The Ceerigaabo conflict, which lasted nearly a week, resulted in casualties including deaths and injuries, previously confirmed by the Federal Government of Somalia.

The clashes in Ceerigaabo come amidst ongoing tensions between Somaliland forces and the SSC-Khaatumo administration, which have seen multiple engagements.

No statements have been issued from the SSC-Khaatumo side regarding the latest conflict.

Additionally, on the 16th of this month, the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation of Somalia released a statement calling for an end to the fighting.
