The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), held a meeting on Tuesday at the Somaliland Presidential Palace with senior officials from the Pharo Foundation, a UK-based organization focused on human development, especially in education, health, agriculture, water, and the environment.The meeting, attended by President Cirro and members of the Somaliland government, aimed to explore ways to collaborate with Pharo Foundation on investing in and developing the agricultural sector and improving food security in Somaliland.According to a statement from the Somaliland presidency, the purpose of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between Somaliland and the Pharo Foundation in financing and implementing agricultural development projects.President Cirro welcomed the meeting and affirmed his administration’s commitment to attracting and working with genuine investors in agriculture, livestock, mining, and other key sectors of Somaliland’s natural resources.“The President told the Pharo Foundation officials that Somaliland is committed to working transparently with investors to achieve national goals of sustainable development and food security,” the statement said.The statement also noted that Pharo Foundation officials visited Hargeisa specifically to discuss a large-scale agricultural project that the foundation plans to implement in Somaliland, which is expected to greatly support the country’s economic growth.The Pharo Foundation is an independent charitable organization based in the United Kingdom, founded in 2011. It focuses on education, water, and agricultural productivity, and operates in Somaliland, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Rwanda, providing programs that support community development and economic resilience.
