HARGEISA – The recent official visit by Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi “Cirro” to the Republic of Djibouti has set the stage for a renewed and strengthened bilateral partnership between the two neighbors, officials said.

Somaliland’s Minister of Information, Culture and Awareness, Ahmed-Yasin Ali Ayanle, told the media in Hargeisa that the high-level meetings between President Cirro and Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh focused on boosting cooperation in trade, security, and cultural ties.

“These talks focused on strengthening commercial, social, and security collaboration across the region,” Minister Ayanle stated.

The two leaders also reportedly discussed infrastructure development projects, including the construction of a major road linking Djibouti and Somaliland. The road, which will begin at the border town of Lawyacado and extend to Kalabaydh, is expected to be financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Minister Ayanle expressed optimism about the future of the bilateral relationship and urged both sides to continue building on their strategic partnership for the benefit of their peoples and the broader Horn of Africa region.
