Suicide car bomb attack kills five, injuries more than 10 others in Beledweyne

Beledweyne(Mogadishu24)-At least five people from Somali National Army and local forces, Macawisley were confirmed dead and more than 10 others were injured suicide car bomb attack happened at SNA base west of Beledweyne town in Hiiraan region on Sunday afternoon.

The District Commissioner, Omar Alasow said that a minibus with a terrorist suicide bomber carried out the attack, saying the army was vigilant and did their best to reduce the casualties and confirmed that civilians were among victims.

Al-Shabaab has claimed the responsibility for the attack in Beledweyne and said that 29 soldiers were killed and injured there, but it did not identify how many killed or injured so far. The group also said that it killed nine SNA soldiers and injured 9 others in a remote control roadie bomb attack near Runnir-god district in Middle Shabelle region under the same Hirshabelle State early yesterday.

The attack came hours after Djiboutian forces under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia(ATMIS) handed over Forward Operating Base nearby to Somali National Army.
