Mogadishu, April 23, 2025 – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held a meeting today with the European Union delegation to Somalia, during which they discussed plans for the national consultation process and measures aimed at stabilizing the country’s politics.

The President also presented the government’s plans for national reconciliation and strengthening good governance, emphasizing that the administration remains committed to advancing the democratic process, especially in relation to direct elections.

The national consultation preparations aim to create national consensus while reinforcing political stability measures that are essential for Somalia’s future.

The President reiterated that the Federal Government of Somalia will continue its international cooperation efforts to ensure a prosperous, united, and progressive future for the Somali people.

In his message for Eid al-Fitr on March 30, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud called for peace and announced plans for a national consultation forum, urging political leaders, civil society, and other stakeholders to work together to strengthen statehood and combat the government’s ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab and Daesh.
