Jigjiga, Ethiopia – The city of Jigjiga hosted the youth conference of the Somali Regional State, which was officially opened by President Mustafe Mohamud Omar.This three-day conference brought together hundreds of young people from all 11 regions of the state. The purpose of the conference was for the youth to discuss education, job creation, and their role in community development.The opening ceremony of the conference was attended by President Mustafe Mohamud Omar, the President of the SRS Youth, Fuad Gana, the Minister of the Office of Youth and Sports, and other officials.In his opening speech, President Mustafe Mohamed Omar strongly condemned the culture of destructiveness, encouraging the youth to distance themselves from negative and demotivating perspectives.“Youth are the backbone of society. They should not adopt views like ‘I can’t do anything,’ or wait for jobs without effort. This attitude is not correct,” said the President.The conference will also discuss the challenges facing youth, especially in terms of job creation and education. It is expected that the debates and meetings will lead to constructive recommendations to help shape a better future for the region’s youth.
