Wajir, Kenya(Mogadishu24)-Suspected terrorists have on Tuesday attacked a traveller’s bus, killed two passengers, and injured ten others along Lamu-Witu-Garsen Highway at Lango La Simba near the border of Lamu and Tana River Counties.The attack occurred in the morning at approximately 7:30 AM when the terrorists launched an attack on a public service vehicle, killing one passenger on the spot and leaving ten others injured, while an unknown number of individuals are reported missing.Kenya’s Ministry of Interior and National Coordination has confirmed the incident and reported that security officers attached to Nyangoro Forward Operation Base swiftly responded to the attack. As a result, the attackers fled into the Boni forest.The statement from Kenya’s Ministry reads: “One (1) person was killed, approximately ten (10) others injured, while a yet to be determined number is missing. Security personnel from the Nyangoro Forward Operation Base (FOB) who were conducting clearance patrols along the highway responded rapidly, and an engagement with the approximately 60 terrorists ensued, scattering them into Boni forest.”During the evacuation for emergency Intensive Care Unit treatment for two of the victims who were seriously injured, one of them succumbed, bringing the total death toll to two.In response to this attack, a joint security operation is underway, involving elite contingents from the National Police Service and Kenya Defense Forces, to track down the terrorists and search the missing civilians, while the injured ones are receiving necessary medical treatment.Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia did not comment on the latest attack in Kenya so far.
