By Asha ElmiDjibouti – The Minister of Trade and Tourism of Djibouti, Mohamed Warsama Dirieh, chaired a business forum in Djibouti on May 29, 2025, organized by the country’s Chamber of Commerce.According to Djibouti’s news agency, the forum was part of welcoming a delegation of U.S. investors, which included members of the American diaspora and senior figures from Djibouti’s private sector.The forum aimed to facilitate the exchange of information and lay the groundwork for a strategic partnership between Djibouti and the United States. The event focused on various sectors of the economy, including logistics, energy, green technology, digital technologies, and tourism—areas where both countries appear well-positioned to collaborate.Mohamed Ismael, head of the U.S. delegation, emphasized the significance of the event, stating that it was not just a visit but reflected both countries’ desire to build long-term projects based on mutual trust and vision.“This forum is not just a visit; it reflects our shared desire to build sustainable projects based on trust and a joint vision,” said Mohamed Ismail.In turn, Djibouti reaffirmed its commitment to its role as a key regional hub, with Minister Diiriyeh stating, “Our country is ready. We want to welcome, innovate, and connect.”This forum follows the 2024 visit of Djibouti’s Ambassador to the U.S., Mohamed Siad Doualeh, to Minnesota, which was part of Djibouti’s broader goal to position itself as a leading center for logistics, trade, and technology in the Horn of Africa.
