Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-As the United States gears up for urgent ceasefire talks aimed at ending the conflict in Sudan, final meetings are being held in Jeddah, hosted by the Saudi Government.U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, announced that these meetings are the culmination of months of consultations with the parties involved in the conflict, regional partners, technical experts, and thousands of Sudanese citizens who have voiced their demand for an end to the war and famine.The conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began on April 15, 2023, with multiple attempts at peaceful resolution ending in failure. Despite the involvement of international partners and Sudanese scholars in the peace talks, there is skepticism about whether the upcoming negotiations will yield different results from past efforts.Meanwhile, Ethiopian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taye Astke-Selassie, held discussions with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, during visits to Ethiopia and Egypt on August the 3rd.
