By Sayyid OmarThe Vice President of Somaliland, Maxamed Cali Aw Cabdi, along with a delegation of ministers and members of parliament, visited Ceerigaabo, the capital of Sanaag region, which has recently experienced conflicts.The delegation was warmly welcomed by local leaders and residents along the route from Berbera to Ceerigaabo. The Governor of Sanaag and the Deputy Mayor of Ceerigaabo were among the officials who received the delegation.Speaking at the event, the Vice President said the purpose of their visit was to register all armed groups in the region to ensure that only the national army is responsible for security. “We came to Ceerigaabo to register everyone carrying weapons. Only the National Army should handle security,” he said.The Minister of Defense highlighted that the new government is committed to listening to the people and working with them to develop the region. He emphasized that security and community cooperation are top priorities for the administration.The Vice President also stressed the importance of peace in Ceerigaabo and discussed the plan to officially register civilian forces. He mentioned that the Cirro administration is working hard to peacefully resolve conflicts in the Sool and Sanaag regions, with a peace committee recently appointed to handle the matter. The new Somaliland government has stated its commitment to stabilizing Ceerigaabo, and this visit is part of efforts to build public trust and strengthen security in the region.
