Somalia U 17

Somalia will aim to finish the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament with a victory as they face Senegal in their final Group C match, which will be held today in Morocco.

Senegal hopes to finish at the top of Group C, while Somalia faces yet another tough challenge, trying to break a streak of consecutive defeats. Senegal has collected four points from their first two matches, placing them level with group leaders Tunisia — both teams looking to advance to the quarter-finals.

Somalia lost their first two group matches — 3-0 to Tunisia and 5-1 to Gambia. The defeat to Gambia was their heaviest in the tournament’s history, with five goals conceded. Despite the loss, Somalia dominated possession in that game with 58%.

Senegal, on the other hand, has gone unbeaten in their last nine U-17 tournament matches, not losing a single game since 2019. They also boast a strong defense, having kept clean sheets in their last six group stage matches.

This match is crucial for Somalia to showcase their fighting spirit and to avoid another defeat while taking steps toward developing a stronger team for the future. The U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), features national teams of players under 17 years old. This year’s tournament is being held in Morocco from March 30 to April 19, 2025, with 16 African nations participating.
