Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-At least 10 people were on Tuesday confirmed dead and others injured several mortar rounds landed in the Somalia’s busiest market, Bakara in the capital Mogadishu.

Deputy Governor of Mogadishu Municipality, Mohamed Ahmed Diriye denied that the attacks were mortar shells, but described them as explosions in which Al-Shabaab militants were behind.

He added that Security forces are conducting investigation related to the deadly attacks in Bakara market today, saying they will provide more in-depth information about what and how they happened.

Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the today’s attacks in Bakara market today.

But the attacks came as major business centers in the market were shut down since yesterday due to protests made the traders in that market, raising concern over high cost tax on their products and goods in which the local government imposed them.

” We cannot afford to pay tax two times, our products and goods were taxed earlier. this is another additional one which is illegal, they are not even negotiating with us, they are locking the doors of business stores and shops with locks, We request from the Government to intervene the situation”, one of the businessmen said during demonstration in the market before the mortar attacks in the daylight.
