Bosaso(Mogadishu24)-Puntland State Maritime Police Forces seized suspected pirates and a boat transporting illegal consignment of weapons at the coast area of Raas-Aseyr town northeast Somalia according to the officials Wednesday.

PMPF Commander, Fu’ad Mohamud Hussein told reporters that they arrested three men aboard the boat with light weapons, ammunition and petrol, saying they will be submitted to relevant court to be trailed and taken legal action against them.

Such move comes as pirates’ incidents were reported to have been place in the east coast of Somalia in the last two months.

Last week, Indian Navy warship, rescued an Iranian-flagged fishing vessel carrying 19 Pakistani crew that was hijacked by armed Somali pirates off the east coast of Somalia. The Indian Navy rescued the Pakistani crew and overpowered the Somali pirates according to Indian Navy.
