Diri Dawa(Mogadishu24)-A forum of discussion was on Saturday held in the Diri Dawa city in Ethiopia to address the security and safety of the completion of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway. This includes ensuring the safety of individuals involved in the process, such as engineers and laborers.

The forum, organized by the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Company, was attended by key officials, including Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport, Dr. Alemu Sime, EDR company representatives, and various civil society organizations from the Somali and Oromo regions.

It also saw the participation of officials from across all regional administrations, scholars, and intellectuals from the areas traversed by the railway line.

The forum focused on a detailed analysis of several crucial points, including strategies to enhance the security of the railway infrastructure and measures to prevent any damage to the train and the surrounding line.

During the meeting, a unanimous decision was reached to collaborate closely in order to strengthen security measures for the entire railway infrastructure.

This collective effort aims to ensure the smooth operation and safeguarding of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway, contributing to the safety and well-being of the communities along its route.

After five years from 2017 and being partially completed, the railway is expected to facilitate increased trade, reduced transportation costs, and create job opportunities, shaping a brighter future for both Ethiopia and Djibouti.
