Mogadishu, Somalia – The Somali government has confirmed that two clan elders were among those killed in an attack carried out Tuesday Morning by Al-Shabaab on Qaahira Hotel in Beledweyne, the capital of Hiiraan region.The attack resulted in multiple casualties, including fatalities and injuries, though the exact number has not yet been officially disclosed. According to reports, the attack began with an explosion, followed by armed militants storming the hotel.Somalia’s Minister of Health, Ali Haji, condemned the attack in a statement on social media, calling it a barbaric act and extending condolences to the families of the victims. He prayed for mercy upon those killed and wished a swift recovery for the wounded.“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack carried out by the ruthless Khawarij group on Qaahira Hotel in Beledweyne. I pray for Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in this heinous attack,” said Minister Ali Haji.The minister also extended specific condolences to the families of Nabadoon Aadan Raaxa Jecel and Nabadoon Mohamed Osman Farah (Ileyna), who were among those killed in the attack.According to reports, Qaahira Hotel was hosting clan elders and military officers who were reportedly planning operations against Al-Shabaab in western Hiiraan.
