Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-A domestic plane carrying over 30 passengers, has on Tuesday crashed at Aden Abdulle International Airport in Mogadishu according to the officials.

The aircraft, belonging to Halla Airlines, crashed near the runway during its landing, with passengers from Garowe city onboard.

Fardowsa Osman Igaal, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Somali government, confirmed the incident and stated that two people were injured during the crash.

The Minister dismissed social media claims suggesting the presence of former prime ministers Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke and Abdiweli Mohamed Ali (Gaas) on the plane.

“A plane owned by Halla Airline crashed at Mogadishu airport at 12:30 p.m., with 30 passengers from Garowe and 4 crew members on board. Fortunately, there were no deaths, but 2 people sustained injuries,” emphasized Fardowsa Osman Igaal, the Somali Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation.

She added that the emergency response team promptly addressed the incident, and investigations by the relevant departments are currently underway.

“The emergency team responded promptly to the incident, and investigations by the relevant departments are currently ongoing. It is important to note that the two former Prime Ministers, Omar Abdirashid and Abdiweli Gas, were not among the passengers on this plane,” the Minister clarified.

Assistance is now being provided to the passengers and crew members, and flights to Mogadishu airport have been temporarily suspended.
