Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Government of Djibouti, supported by the World Bank, has launched Social Protection and Food Crisis Response Project that would benefit over 15,000 families in the country, each family receiving $169 to enhance their livelihoods.The program has specifically targeted 5,000 low-income families residing in the city of Djibouti, as well as an additional 10,000 families across various regions within the Republic of Djibouti.This project financed by the World Bank is implemented by the Djibouti Ministry of Social Affairs. The Social Protection and Food Crisis Response Project is part of the broader development initiatives by the Djiboutian government, aimed at preventing humanitarian crises and providing emergency services.The families who have benefited from this program have expressed gratitude and emphasized the importance of this financial support to their livelihoods.“We greatly needed this money. Personally, I will invest it in something effective that would generate income for my family. We appreciate the government of Djibouti and all other parties involved in this program,” said one of the beneficiaries.Omar Ibrahim Omar, the finance manager at CPEC, confirmed that the Social Protection and Food Crisis Response Project implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs has started, and families are receiving their money through CPEC Bank Accounts. “Apart from this program, there are various other government efforts and support systems in place to assist low-income families,” he said.Furthermore, Omar assured the beneficiaries of the safety of their funds, stating that Bank will offer them investment plans.
