Jigjiga(Mogadishu24)-The second phase of the water project in Jigjiga is at the final stages of completion, with plans to reduce the water shortage and demands in the city of the capital of Somali Region of Ethiopia.

This project entails water wells and installation of water storage tanks on the outskirts of the city in Dhagashle and Shabeelay districts in the Faafan region.

The State Minister of Water, Hassan Mohamed Hussein, along with the engineers from the Water Office and the contracted companies have visited the areas to inspect the progress of the project.

The minister received a report from the project workers, who provided details about the various stages of the project and the challenges they encountered.

Speaking to local media, the Minister stated that the project is now at the final stage and will be launched within a month.

“This project, which has taken over a year, is set to be completed soon. It is 95% complete, with very little remaining,” said Minister Hassan.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to resolve the water shortages and provide clean water to address the issue.

In recent years, the State’s government has been actively putting significant efforts to ensure that citizens have access to essential services such as water, electricity, education, healthcare, and the construction of connecting roads between cities.
