Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) welcomed the first RwandAir Cargo flight at Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport on Wednesday at 2:30 PM, marking a significant milestone in regional transportation.

RwandAir’s arrival strengthens the expanding sea-air cargo network, a key initiative developed by DPFZA in collaboration with Air Djibouti. This innovative model, now serving 24 cities across 21 African countries, aims to enhance regional connectivity through a multimodal transportation system that combines sea and air logistics.

“The family is finally reconnected thanks to RwandAir,” said DPFZA Chairman Aboubaker Omar Hadi. “This partnership not only reaffirms our strong fraternal history but also paves the way for enhanced economic and logistical collaboration.”

The sea-air cargo initiative offers a transportation solution that is twice as fast as traditional sea-only transport and more cost-effective than air-only transport. It leverages Djibouti’s strategic geographic position to accelerate economic integration across the region.

“RwandAir’s presence in Djibouti is a significant enhancement to our sea-air cargo network, which has seen substantial growth over the years,” Chairman Hadi added.

The arrival of RwandAir Cargo underscores the commitment of Djibouti and Rwanda to strengthen historical ties and foster economic cooperation, paving the way for future growth and connectivity across Africa.
