Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-The President of Kenya, William Samoi Ruto, received the credentials of the new Somali ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, on Thursday.

Heartfelt congratulations to Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle. The embassy staff is thrilled to welcome you as the new Somalia Ambassador to Kenya. Your leadership is a beacon for stronger ties between our nations. Best wishes for a successful and harmonious tenure“, Somali Embassy in Kenya said on Facebook Post.

Earlier, President Ruto received the credentials of other new High Commissioners, foreign envoys, Ambassadors, and their Deputies from Pakistan, Qatar, Tanzania, Oman, Somalia, Iran, Australia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, El Salvador, and Suriname.

He underscored multilateral development through the new diplomats to promote relations, build networks, and enhance Kenya’s interests.

“Kenya’s profile on the global stage has been growing at a critical moment in the history of multilateralism. It is our expectation that the newly-appointed diplomats will cultivate relations, build networks, and articulate issues that will secure and foster our country’s interests,” President Ruto said.

Two weeks ago, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle as the new Somali Ambassador to Kenya, following the end of the term of Ambassador Mohamud Ahmed Nur (Tarsan), who had served as Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya since 2018.

Kenya and Somalia have maintained longstanding mutual relationships, with a strong focus on cooperation in key areas, particularly on defence and security.

Over the years, these two nations have worked together to address shared challenges, enhance regional stability, and foster diplomatic ties.

Kenya is one of the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troop-contributing countries and has been actively engaged in the fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization, which is a threat not only to Somalia but also to Kenya.
