Garowe(Mogadishu24)-Puntland State’s President, Said Abdullahi Deni, announced on Friday that he is ready to engage in discussions with opposition politicians opposed to the one-person-one-vote electoral system.President Deni expressed his willingness to reach an agreement with the opposition to resolve disputed election issues, emphasizing that political differences should not lead to conflicts but rather a peaceful transition. He urged security forces involved in the conflicts in Garowe in June of this year, led by General Jimaale, to seek forgiveness from the government.“I urge the armed forces, led by General Jimaale, to seek forgiveness from the government. I also call on opposition politicians to join the discussion table, share their opinions, and we stand ready to engage with them both legally and rationally,” stated President Deni.Despite being open to dialogue, President Deni has stated that the government will not reconsider its stance on one-person-one-vote elections. However, opposition politicians labeled President Deni’s statement as misleading, accusing him of deflecting international community pressure and allegations.
