Jigjga(Mogadishu24)-The President of Ethiopia’s Somali Region, Mustafe Mohamed Omer, delivered a comprehensive overview of his Government’s crucial achievements in 2023 and outlined ambitious plans for the year 2024.In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, President Mustafe emphasized key milestones achieved in 2023, including economic growth, trade and investment, democracy, and political stability.“In 2023, the government made numerous strides by strengthening our security, ensuring political stability, and safeguarding the democratic rights of our people. We also implemented robust development plans in both urban and rural areas, contributing to growth in businesses and the investment sectors,” the president said.He added, “The region experienced a notable increase in income and strengthened institutional accountability through empowered offices like the Planning Office and the Procurement Agency, ensuring fair and competitive project distribution.”He underscored advancements in social health insurance, as well as improvements in education. He further stated that potential improvements in these sectors are ongoing.“The social health insurance program underwent expansion, broadening its coverage. While progress in education improvement was accelerated, we anticipate potential improvements over time,” he added.The President outlined the government’s strategic focus for 2024 with special emphasis on reinforcing achievements in education, urban development, manufacturing, investment, and enhancing the quality of basic services.“Looking ahead to the new year of 2024, the government aims to further strengthen the achievements of the past.
