Addis Ababa(Mogadishu24)-The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have strengthened their bilateral relations through cooperation signing of multi-sectors agreements on Friday.Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks in Addis Ababa on cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, food security, energy, trade, investment, technology, and others.The Prime Minister of Ethiopia welcomed the President of the UAE and reiterated his government’s commitment to fostering the relationship between the two countries.“I welcome my dear brother and friend, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, to Ethiopia. The growing relations between our two countries are rooted in deep mutual respect and a shared vision for mutual progress. We will continue collaborating in the pursuit of sustainable development,” said Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister.The Prime Minister further pointed out that this cooperation is important due to Ethiopia’s immense water and high potential in energy, as well as the strategy to improve its relations with other African countries.“Following bilateral meetings and the signing of key cooperation agreements, together with Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, we planted Green Legacy seedlings, marking our mutual commitment to addressing climate change in multifaceted ways,” the prime minister said.“Ethiopia is endowed with abundant natural resources and potential. The exhibition we opened today showcases the immense water and energy potential of this country,” he added.The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, affirmed the UAE’s commitment to building ties to serve the people of Ethiopia through economic and sustainable developments.“I was pleased to meet Abiy Ahmed Ali in Addis Ababa to discuss strengthening bilateral ties to serve the aspirations of our peoples through economic and sustainable initiatives. The UAE is committed to building bridges of cooperation that foster prosperity and stability for all,” UAE’s President said.Earlier, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, presented a comprehensive report to the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, during his visit to Ethiopia, outlining his government’s plans for reforming the economy.Despite the conflicts that have impacted the country’s economy, Ethiopia has recently demonstrated its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with regional and global countries on development initiatives, particularly in security, water, environmental, and climate sectors.
