Mogadishu: Federal Parliament of Somalia on Sunday confirmed that it received a motion about Government’s agreement over Security cooperation with the Federal Republic of Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates from lawmakers.

“We are confirming that we have received a motion aimed at a ‘Request of government’s Security agreements with the Federal Republic of Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (UAE)”, Parliament’s office of the secretary general said in a brief statement.

Mogadishu24 did not learn more about the reason behind the motion tabled today and if there is a fresh diplomatic row between Somalia with those governments mentioned in the document so far.

But this move comes a day after President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sh. Mohamud signed a law nullifying the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ethiopian and Somaliland, leasing 20 kilometers of  sea access to Ethiopia.

It also comes as the diplomatic row between Ethiopia and Somalia worsens, as angry people took to the streets to protest against the sea.
