Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Hirshabelle State Authorities said that the Somali National Army foiled the terrorist attacks in Balcad town in Middle Shabelle region and killed 11 fighters during the operation

Balcad District Commissioner, Omar Ali Nur ‘Furdug’ told the State-run media that five people sustained injuries including two civilians and three soldiers.

Al-Shabaab militants claimed the responsibility for the attack and said its fighters overran two army bases inside the town, inflicting heavy casualties. the group said that their fighters killed 13 SNA soldiers and injured 19 others.

Residents say the group managed to take control of the city for about an hours and destroyed key District stations and residential areas, expressing the possibility of more casualties on civilians.
