Bosaso – Puntland’s security forces seized a boat loaded with military uniforms and other equipment in a nighttime operation off the coast of the Bari region, an official statement from the Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operation revealed.

The crew, all Somali nationals, was captured near the shores of Qaw, a locality within the jurisdiction of Boosaaso. Investigations are ongoing to determine the intended recipients of the military supplies.

“The operation resulted in the detention of the boat and its cargo, along with the crew, in the waters off Qaw in the Bari region,” according to the statement reported by Puntland state TV.

Officials emphasized that the seizure is part of Puntland’s broader strategy to secure its coastal areas and disrupt supply routes used by ISIS-affiliated insurgents attempting to smuggle military resources by sea.

As part of the Calmiskaad Mountain Operation, Puntland has intensified security patrols along its coastline to cut off external supply chains to militant groups trying to establish a presence in the region. This latest action underscores Puntland’s commitment to safeguarding ISIS from armed threats and illicit arms smuggling.
