Garowe(Mogadishu24)-Puntland State has on Sunday launched tree planting project which is expected to be conducted in a week’s time to prevent climate crisis related to environmental impacts at an event held in Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland.The Deputy Vice President, Ilyes Osman Lugatore planted the first tree in the region, explaining the importance of plantations and beauty to the cities and the environment in general.“It is planned to plant 20’000 trees in areas under Puntland State in Somalia during this week to prevent deforestation of the environment, the Government also banning cutting tees for charcoal according to study made the Ministry of Environment”, Puntland State House said in a statement. The Minister of Environment and Climate Change for Puntland State, Mohamed Farole described the move as reflection to their commitment to the environmental protection and development.“This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental protection and development. It’s a chance for the Puntland community to participate in efforts to nurture our land and foster a greener future for the coming generations. #Somalia“, he said on X post.Puntland State President, Said Abdulllahi Deni has for the first time introduced this Ministry and appointed Mohamed Abdirahman Farole as the Minister to lead it after his re-election as president this year.
