Bosaso(Mogadishu24)-Puntland State Security forces arrested three suspected IS militant members after conducting operation in the port city of Bosaso of Barri region northwest Somalia on Sunday evening, according to the officials.

“PSF has conducted operations to improve security in Bosaso, Somalia The objective was to identify and apprehend Daesh suspects who had been threatening local businesses. During the operation, the PSF successfully arrested three individuals believed to be involved in these threats”, Puntland Security forces said on X Monday.

IS militants did not comment on the latest security operation and arrests of its members in Bosaso city so far.

This development comes two days after the U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike at Dhaardaar area, approximately 81 km southeast of Bosaso, targeting ISIS militants, May 31, 2024.

“An initial assessment of the strike is that three ISIS militants were killed, with no civilian casualties”, U.S. Africa Command said in a statement.
