Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somalia and the United States have vowed to strengthen their bilateral relations through the promotion of human rights and democracy issues.Hamse Warfa, a senior advisor on Democracy and Human Rights at the U.S. State Department, has arrived in Mogadishu to further foster the ties between the two nations.The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, and MPs, Senators and various government officials welcomed the advisor upon his arrival.“Today, I had the pleasure to receive Hamse warfa, Senior democracy and human rights Advisor in the U.S. State Department at my office. We discussed the bilateral relations between Somalia and the US, which is based on our shared principles of human rights and democracy,” stated Hamza Abdi Barre, the Prime Minister of Somalia.Speaking to the media, Hamse Warfa explained that his visit was motivated by his personal connections with Somalia.“Today, it brings me great pleasure to return to my homeland, a place I left when I was 10 years old and have been away from for more than 30 years. The purpose of my visit is to reconnect with this beautiful country that has been in my thoughts every night since I left. I look forward to engaging with the people and the leaders, as this will enhance my role as both an individual and a representative of the U.S,” said Hamse Warfa, U.S. Senior Advisor.Hamse Warfa was appointed to his current role as the Senior Advisor on Democracy and Human Rights at the U.S. State Department by U.S. President Joe Biden on January 10th, 2022.
