The Somali National Army has on Thursday conducted an offensive operation on Al-Shabaab’s roadblock in Jameco, situated along the raod connecting Baidoa to Mogadishu, killing 15 of the militants, including three key leaders.

During the operation, the Army successfully dismantled the illegal roadblock that the militants had maintained for the past two weeks, obstructing public transport to Baidoa and causing huge disruptions for the local population.

This marks the second operation within 24 hours, in which the Somali National Army has acted on the roads linking Baidoa to other towns. In a joint effort with the support of US Africom forces, the Somali National Army killed over 100 Al-Shabaab militants in Gel-Libaah and El-Quraa, strategically located along the border of Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions.
