Somali National Army’s elite forces(Danab) on Saturday carried out a planned operation at Budbud area of the Galgadud region under Galmudug State, destroying Al-Shabaab hideouts successfully.

Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Abdullahi Nur Beeryare, the commander of the 16th battalion of the Danab commando army, spoke to the local media and confirmed the destruction of various Al-Shabaab hideouts in the area.

“During the operation, our forces targeted and destroyed multiple Al-Shabaab sites where chemicals, explosive devices, and weapons were stored,” said Commander Beeryare.

On Friday, Al-Shabaab carried out coordinated attacks both in Mogadishu and in the Wargadud location of Mandera County, claiming multiple lives. In Mandera, the attacks resulted in the deaths of two police officers and a teacher. Similarly, in Mogadishu, four individuals lost their lives due to these attacks.

The Budbud area had previously been liberated from Al-Shabaab’s control. However, the group managed to regain a presence and dominance in recent weeks due to the absence of government forces in the area.
