Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali Bureau of Standards on Wednesday displayed 7 containers of expired flour imported from Turkey by Somali traders after seizing this commodity at Mogadishu Seaport during its activity on controlling the quality of useful products and food items from abroad.Director of the Somali Bureau Standards for inspection of products into the markets, Mohamud Elmi Dirshe confirmed that their agency caught the expired products on Thursday 7, 2024, and informed the traders who brought these containers that they will not transported to the markets for sale because of the health reasons.“We are warning traders against bringing expired products into the country by any means, it is unacceptable to important such things, let them be drinks, milk, medicine or food products. We never allow such harmful things to be imported and seen into our markets, they can cause cancer and other diseases”, Elmi said.He said that their Bureau of Standards is committed to ensure the quality control of all products to keep the safety and health of Somali citizens, adding that they will start a campaign to fight against such harmful business into the markets, pharmacies and shopping shops selling cosmetics in Mogadishu soon.
