Abudwak(Mogadishu24)-Abdikarim Ahmed Bulhan, a journalist who was working for the Somali National Television, was shot dead by gunman in Abudwakh district in Galgudud region under Galmudug State in Somalia, officials confirmed Thursday.

The deceased journalist, who was also a manager of an orphanage in Abudwak town, was shot on the face, and legs with several rounds and seriously injured at first by a member of the security guards at the center following misunderstanding between them, but he later died of the wounds according to his colleagues in Mogadishu.

“We were colleagues for almost 20 years, he was working and helping the vulnerable people while managing an orphanage center at this time, sorry to learn that he was aggressively killed. May his soul rest in peace”, Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala said on Facebook Post.

Abdikarin worked with several media stations in Somalia including Shabelle, Radio Mogadishu and the National Television during his career in the past two decades.

Journalists face huge challenges including death threats, torture and arrest in Somalia according to local and International Media organizations.
