Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army’s elite forces together with International Partners on Tuesday destroyed four armed vehicles belonging to Al-Shabaab at Mukeyle location about 20 kilometers west of Bula-burte town in Hiiraan region in central Somalia.

Somali Government’s Deputy Minister for Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Adala told state-run news agency that the joint forces conducted the operation, targeting a garage in the area where members from the group fighters were planning explosives attached to those vehicles at the time of the operation.

He said that were casualties on the Al-Shabaab fighters, but did not specify the exact number of death or injuries so far.

Al-Shabaab fighters did not comment on the latest onslaught against them in Hiiraan region.

Today’s attack on the group fighters came days after President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s reached Dhusamareb, where he will be stationed for an undisclosed period to scale up the second phase of the government’s battle against Al-Shabaab fighters, who have control over certain areas in the region.
