Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Somali Federal Government reaffirmed its unwavering support to Peoples Republic of China on the issue of Taiwan, a province with over 23 million population separated from the rest of China about half a century ago.Somalia’s Ministry of foreign Affairs said in a statement Sunday that the Federal Republic of Somalia recognizes Taiwan as an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China, and this position has been a fundamental aspect of Somalia’s foreign policy.“In response to recent media queries regarding elections in Taiwan, the Federal Republic of Somalia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the One China Policy and emphasizes its consistent, clear, and principled stance on the matter”, said the statement.Taiwan held presidential election two days ago while Chairperson of the breakaway republic of Somaliland, Musa Hassan Yusuf and his delegation were invited to witness the election on January 13, 2024.China: Somaliland is part of SomaliaChinese Ministry of foreign Affairs on Thursday clarified its position about worsening diplomatic relations between the Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopian following MoU with Somaliland, leasing 20 km of sea access to Ethiopia on January 1st.Mao Ning, Spokesperson of Chinese Ministry of foreign Affairs of China said that China stands for upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and supports countries in safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Somaliland is part of Somalia.
