Dhusamareb(Mogadishu24)-The Somali National Army, on Monday, killed 43 Al-Shabaab militants and injured many others in offensive operations in Xiin-Tubaal and Cel-Cali areas, located south of the Bari district in the Galgadud region.

In a statement, the Federal Ministry of Information confirmed the operation and reported that the army had killed 43 militants and destroyed three vehicles owned by the terrorists organisation.

“The Somali National Army conducted operations in Xiin-Tubaal and Cel-Cali areas, located southeast of Galgadud region, killing 43 Al-Shabaab militants and the destroying of three vehicles belonginging to the militant group,” read the statement.

The statement added those killed fighters were a group of militants who had been gathered in the areas after fleeing from other locations where government offensive operations were ongoing.

In a separate operation, the Somali National Army engaged with Al-Shabaab militants who were planning to launch an attack on Daru-Nicma, located in the Lower Shabelle region.

The forces thwarted their offensive plans, and seized weapons.

These coordinated offensive operations come a day after the President’s arrival in Mahaas district in the Hiiraan region to accelerate the war against Al-Shabaab militants in the area.

A week ago, the terrorists group launched the deadliest attack on SNA forces at Cowsweyne bases in the Galgudud region. This created criticism and anger from the public, calling the president to take action against the Minister of Defense and Army chiefs who were accused of being behind the military failure.

Since then, leaders from the federal government and state administrations have been actively mobilizing and inspiring the national Army and the local community forces to combat against the threats of the terrorist group.
