Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sh. Mohamud in Kampala, Uganda to attend the 42nd Extra-ordinary Summit of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD) and 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit today.Villa Somalia said that the Government will push for efforts to safeguard regional stability and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.Ugandan Government, Yuweri Museveni accepted to host extra-ordinary summit of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development(IGAD) which will focus on tensions between the Federal Government of Somalia, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the situation in Sudan as though Sudan and Ethiopia boycotted the summit.This would be the first diplomatic efforts that IGAD member states take to de-escalate the tension between Somalia and Ethiopia, following the MoU with the breakaway republic of Somaliland, leasing 20 kilometers of sea access to Ethiopia.The President Hassan and his delegation will also join the 19th Non-Aligned Movement Summit after IGAD Heads of States Summit.“Our delegation will also engage in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) starting on Jan. 19 and the G77 + China Summit on Jan. 21 in Kampala, both of which are pivotal platforms for our international cooperation and multilateral relationships on a global scale”, Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama said on X post.
