Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-At the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group in Nairobi, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday addressed African leaders, emphasizing Somalia’s unique environmental challenges and the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.

In his remarks, President Mohamud emphasized the unique challenges Somalia faces, highlighting the country’s efforts to address environmental issues. “In Somalia, fragility is among the challenges we face. This has been compounded by successive years of drought, followed by another year of El Niño and floods,” he stated.

To combat these challenges, Somalia has made significant strides, including the historic establishment of the country’s first Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. President Mohamud’s participation underscored Somalia’s commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable development.

The discussions at the meeting are expected to center on Africa’s socioeconomic transformation, aiming to fast-track development initiatives across the continent.
