Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Thursday afternoon closed Military training program for hundreds of newly recruited Somali forces in which the Turkey sponsored at the TurkSom Military Training College.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the graduation ceremony, given the country’s ongoing war against the Al-Shabaab militants and the crucial need for a strong National Defence Force.

“I am honored to attend this graduation ceremony of new officers and deputy officers that will be part of our National Army, after undertaking military training. They are made up of Land forces, Air forces, and Maritime forces,” stated the Prime Minister.

“This graduation came at an important period where the government is involved in an offensive war against Al-Shabaab,” he added.

The Prime Minister further urged the news graduates to serve the nation effectively and efficiently during this challenging time.

“I urge you to work effectively and get ready to serve your country and people honestly, and be part of the efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab militants from the country,” he said.

He reiterated the Government’s commitment to eliminating the militants by reconstructing security operations, equipping and strengthening the Armed Forces, aiming for full self-reliance.

“We are committed to fully eradicate the Al-Shabaab militants from our country and take control of our territory. This is possible through equipping and strengthening our national forces who are at the forefront in the liberation of our country,” he added.

The graduation event was attended by top Army Officials from Turkey, as well as Commissioners from the Somali National Army.

Turkey is among the international partners supporting the Somali Government’s offensive against Al-Shabaab militants through military training, equipping the Army, as well as conducting air operations in the first and the ongoing phases of the operation against the militant group.
