Jigjiga(Mogadishu24)-The Executive Council of the Somali Regional State of Ethiopia on Wednesday approved the establishment of an Advisory Committee (The Senate) comprising of political and traditional leaders.The committee is aimed to enhance cooperation, promote peace, social integration, unity, and actively contribute to the direction of regional transformations.“During the 4th session of the Executive Council, the Council approved the establishment bill of an Advisory Committee for the Somali Regional Administration.” The statement readsThe council underscored the importance of forming an advisory committee that guides, advises, and collaborates with other government institutions and traditional leaders.“Considering the need to create a committee to work on cooperation, peace, social integration, unity, and active involvement in guiding social transformations, in accordance with Article 56 of the region’s constitution, the council unanimously approved the bill,” the official statement read.The creation of this committee will help the improvement of service delivery and efforts towards pressing social issues, particularly preventing conflicts, droughts, humanitarian crises, and swift emergency responses.
