Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somalia’s Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, Sheikh Muktar Robow Ali, on Tuesday appointed a nine-member committee in charge of conducting competitions for Hajj/Pilgrimage services.In a statement, the Minister announced that this committee would be responsible for conducting competitions among companies and organizations bidding to facilitate Hajj services in the upcoming year.The Minister emphasized that the committee must conduct the preliminary qualifications of the companies in a free and transparent manner before submitting the results to the ministry.“This committee will be responsible for transparently and fairly evaluating the prequalification and conducting competitions among companies, organizations, and agencies offering Hajj services. Subsequently, the committee should submit the results of the qualification competitions to the ministry,” the statement reads.The statement also added that the appointed committee members would assume their roles as of October 9, 2023.“Starting from October 9, 2023, this committee will be the committee for conducting competitions for Hajj services. All appointed members should have the right to perform their duties and are required to fulfil the roles they were assigned,” the statement added.The appointed committee members include Mohamed Hajji Ibrahim Ali, Abdinur Maalim Mohamed, Ibrahim Robow Ali, Sheikh Ali Sheikh Mohamud, Abdalle Abdirahman Abdullahi, Hajji Mohamed Keyrow Adan, Dr. Sheikh Yussuf Ali Eynte, Adam Sadik Mohamed, and Dr. Khadar Hajji Dahir.The establishment of this committee aims to facilitate the Hajj program for Somali citizens and shows the government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of Somali pilgrims.
