Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-Somalia’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Jama Taqal Abbas, met with his Djibouti counterpart, Yonis Ali Guedi, on Wednesday to discuss strengthening their relationship in the field of energy and exploring opportunities for exchanging experiences in the energy sector.

The two ministers held their meeting following their participation in the fifth Energy Development Conference held in Kigali, Rwanda.

This year’s conference aimed to showcase the progress made by countries that are members of the International Solar Alliance.

This comes days after Djibouti hosted the 5th ministerial meeting of member countries of the Africa Renewable Energy Initiative (AREI).

The two-day meeting aimed at strengthening the partnership between the member countries of AREI, with the goal of accelerating the large-scale deployment of renewable energies on the African continent.

Somalia and Djibouti share a longstanding fraternal relationship, with the Djibouti government actively involved in supporting the reconstruction efforts of Somalia’s government and working towards restoring peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
