Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Somali National Army, in collaboration with international partners, announced on Sunday that they eliminated nine Al-Shabaab militants, including two commanders, in separate operations conducted in the Lower Shabelle and Mudug regions.

In another coordinated operation in the outskirts of the Caad district in the Mudug region, the joint forces successfully eliminated seven members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization.

Minister of Information Daud Aweis confirmed the incident through his official X account, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eradicating Al-Shabaab from the country.

“Collaborative operations with the SNA and international allies have eradicated Shabab leaders and militants in Lower Shabelle and Mudug. Two extortionists were killed in Nuun-Garre, & 7 militants in Caad. #Somalia remains committed to removing Shabab remnants for lasting peace,” he stated.

This comes only a week after the Somali National Army and the US Africa Command Forces killed Maalim Ayman, an Al-Shabaab leader who had $10 million bounty for any information leading to his arrest or conviction.

He is believed to have committed several crimes in Kenya and Somalia, including an attack that left three American citizens dead.

The Somali National Army and the international partners have intensified efforts against Al-Shabaab militants since the declaration of an all-round war by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed.

The joint forces along with the local community, ‘Macawisley’, liberated about 70 locations from the Al-Shabaab last year.
